Why can’t I upload my 3D file?
We designed the RapidDirect quotation platform to be as simple and intuitive as possible.
When submitting a request for quote, you can drag and drop 3D files into the platform or ‘Click’ to select a file from a folder on your computer.
If you are searching for a file but cannot select it, the file may not be in a compatible format. At present, our platform accepts the following formats:
- STEP (.step, .stp)
- Mesh (.stl)
Note that many CAD software applications allow the user to export design projects as STEP or Mesh files. These are standard formats.
If the file is in one of our accepted formats but still cannot be uploaded, it may exceed RapidDirect’s 100MB size limit. We can only accept files of this size or smaller due to server limitations.
A weak internet connection may also be preventing you from uploading a large file. Try uploading your files using a strong broadband connection.
3D files are the best way to start the quotation process. But if you do not have a suitable 3D file, you can request a manual quotation instead. Just be prepared to wait a little longer for a response.
